Toxin-Free Family: Suzanne Somers

posted in: Uncategorized | 2

I am very excited to introduce the category Toxin-Free Family on The Pinxwear Blog.  I have been using chemical-free products in our home for well over a year and recently decided to become a representative for the company.  I am totally in LOVE with all of their products and finally feel at peace about our household cleaning supplies, hair care products, and super-fabulous skin care products.  Guilt free cleaning – a total blessing!  Formaldehyde free make-up – yahoo!  Sulfate free shampoo that doesn’t rinse the color away (not that I dye my hair!) – halleluiah!   Incredibly high quality items at affordable prices – now this is almost too much good news!

I will happily contribute information about the products I use and include info from other bloggers as well.  My goal is to educate readers on how to achieve the healthiest lifestyle possible … with the least amount of effort.  More good news!

So, let’s start with a great article from wellness pioneer Suzanne Somers. This woman does not age… seriously!

Clean Up Your Act: Cleansers That Work Without Chemicals

When you’re choosing cleaning products to keep in your home, it’s hard not to be swayed by bright packaging and “fresh” scents. Bright packaging is designed to catch the eye; however, chances are those “fresh” scents are anything but fresh — unless, of course, you equate freshness with chemicals! Unfortunately, the bulk of cleaning products on the market are toxic, and prolonged exposure to them can have negative effects on your health by increasing your overall toxic burden. If you’re feeling anxious about the fact that you’ve used industrial cleaning products your whole life, don’t worry! How could you have known? The whole point of Sexy Forever is to take these problematic behaviors and turn them around now so you can relieve your body of its toxic load and get on the road to optimum health for the rest of your life. Changing some of your long-time habits can help to cut down on the toxic burden that comes from keeping a clean house.

  • Phase out the chemicals in your home. As you run out of each bottle, box, or package of your trusted chemical cleaners, toss them and look for natural alternative. It’s not always easy. We have loyalty to our brands and familiarity with the scents. I promise there are other ways to get your shower clean and your clothes white. If you are feeling bold, gather them up and get rid of them now! Consider it a “spring cleaning” and put everyone to work removing all the potential toxins you have lying around the house.
  • Phase in safer products. If the ingredient list is chock-full of long, unpronounceable names, it’s likely not for you. Look for safer cleaning products that are made with natural ingredients like borax, citrus cleaners, castile soaps, or simple homemade concoctions.
  • Make your own cleaners. Common household products like baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice, along with water, can be combined in various combinations to create a master set of cleaners that can tackle even the toughest jobs without adding toxins to your environment. A simple baking-soda-and-water paste can make even the toughest stains disappear, while a vinegar-and-water combo makes a great glass cleaner. This saves you money, too!

We live in a society that’s constantly seeking faster, simpler ways of getting everyday tasks out of the way, often at the risk of compromising our overall health. With a little patience, elbow grease, and creativity, however, there are ways to get by while maintaining your well-being and keeping your living space spotless. In my opinion, it is well worth the effort!

I love that we are doing this together. Living safer and healthier lives. Everyone should…why not? We can’t control the things outside of our homes, BUT we can control what we use in our homes. A smarter, simpler and safer way to shop. I hope more people do the same…it is worth it!!!!!
